How many hand-washing stations do I need?
Plan on 1 hand-washing station for every 4 porta potties at events, and at least 1 per food area. On jobsites, OSHA 29 CFR 1926.51(f) requires washing facilities where workers handle paints, coatings, herbicides or other harmful materials. Food vendors should follow their health permit.

How does a portable hand-washing station work?
A portable hand-washing station holds about 34 gallons of fresh water in a tank and catches gray water in a second tank. Pressing a foot pedal sends water to the faucet, so nobody touches a handle. One fill covers about 200 to 300 hand washes.

Can a hand-washing station be used in winter?
A hand-washing station can freeze below 32°F because it holds fresh water. For winter jobsites, use hand sanitizer inside the units on the coldest days and keep the station for days above freezing, or ask about refilling with warm water on service days.
