How many accessible porta potties does an event need?
An event with portable toilets should make at least 5% of the units in each cluster wheelchair-accessible, and never fewer than 1, under section 213.2 of the 2010 ADA Standards. A cluster of 10 units needs 1 accessible unit; a cluster of 30 needs 2.

Where should an accessible unit be placed?
An accessible porta potty should sit on level, firm ground such as pavement, packed gravel or short dry grass, with a clear path from parking and seating. Avoid slopes, soft lawns and thresholds. Put it at the end of a cluster so the door swings open without blocking other units.
See the placement guide for ground and path tips.
Questions people ask before booking
Does your accessible unit meet ADA rules?
The unit is built as wheelchair-accessible with a ground-level floor, grab bars and a 60-inch turning space. Whether your setup meets the ADA depends on placement and path too, so we describe it as wheelchair-accessible and leave the final call to your venue or inspector.
Do I need one for a private backyard party?
A private party is not covered by the same rules, but 1 accessible unit helps guests with wheelchairs, walkers or bad knees, and parents with small children.
Can the accessible unit fit through a backyard gate?
At about 88 inches wide, the accessible unit needs a driveway, lot or wide lawn access. It does not fit through a standard garden gate.
Can I rent one for a long construction job?
Accessible units rent by the 28-day cycle with weekly service, the same as standard jobsite units.
