How many porta potties does a construction site need?
A construction site with 20 or fewer workers needs at least 1 toilet under OSHA 29 CFR 1926.51(c). With 20 or more workers, the rule calls for 1 toilet seat and 1 urinal per 40 workers. A standard unit has both a seat and a urinal, so 41 to 80 workers need 2 units.
| Workers on site | OSHA minimum | Standard units we place |
|---|---|---|
| 1–20 | 1 toilet | 1 |
| 21–40 | 1 seat + 1 urinal per 40 | 1 (2 if shifts overlap) |
| 41–80 | 1 seat + 1 urinal per 40 | 2 |
| 81–120 | 1 seat + 1 urinal per 40 | 3 |
| 200+ | 1 seat + 1 urinal per 50 | Workers ÷ 50, rounded up |

What does weekly porta potty service include?
Weekly porta potty service on a jobsite includes 5 steps: pump the waste tank, scrub and sanitize the inside, refill the blue deodorizing solution, restock toilet paper and hand sanitizer, and check the door and latch. The visit is included in the 28-day rate.
- Pump: the waste tank is emptied with a vacuum truck.
- Clean: the seat, urinal, floor and walls are sprayed and wiped.
- Recharge: fresh deodorizing solution goes in. Below freezing, the mix is antifreeze-treated.
- Restock: toilet paper and sanitizer are refilled.
- Check: the door, latch and vent get a quick inspection.
Crews of 30 or more, or any site with heavy summer use, can add a second weekly service. Need a one-off clean before an inspection or client walkthrough? Ask for an extra service visit.
How does 28-day billing work on a jobsite?
Jobsite porta potty rentals bill every 28 days per unit, not by calendar month. The first cycle starts on delivery day. The rental renews every 28 days until you call or text for pickup, and the cycle in which pickup happens is the last one billed.
A 10-week framing job uses 3 cycles. A 6-month build uses 7 cycles. The 28-day billing guide has a worked example, and the porta potty cost guide lists starting prices.
Where should a jobsite porta potty go?
A jobsite porta potty should sit on level, firm ground within about 15 feet of where the service truck can park. Keep it away from crane swing paths, excavations and dumpster drop zones. Face the door away from the street when the site is in a tight Manchester neighborhood.
- Plan a spot the truck can still reach after framing, fencing and material drops.
- Tell us before you move the unit; a moved unit the truck cannot reach misses its service.
- Locked fence? Text the gate code or leave a lockbox key with the site lead.
- Winter: keep a 3-foot path plowed and shoveled. Units get antifreeze below 32°F.

Which add-ons do construction crews rent?
Construction crews most often add a hand-washing station, a second weekly service, or a lock kit. OSHA 1926.51(f) requires washing facilities where workers handle paints, coatings or other harmful materials, so a hand-washing station is the common pairing on finish and paint jobs.
Hand-washing stations have 2 sinks, foot pumps, soap and towels, and need no water hookup. A combination lock kit keeps the public out of units on open sites. For multi-week road or utility work, trailer-mounted units can move with the crew. See hand-washing station rentals.

Questions people ask before booking
Can you get a porta potty to my roofing job today?
Same-day delivery to a roofing job is usually possible in the Manchester area when you call by early afternoon. A flat $95 same-day dispatch fee applies. Give the address, the spot and a site contact, and the truck heads out once the route is set.
Can I keep a jobsite porta potty for 6 to 9 months?
Long jobs are common. The unit renews every 28 days with weekly service until you call for pickup. A 9-month job runs about 10 cycles.
Can you service it every other week to save money?
Weekly service is the standard because a jobsite unit used every day fills and smells within a week. Remote sites with 1 or 2 workers can ask about every-other-week service when usage is light.
Can I put several jobsites on one account?
Builders with more than one site can run them on one account with one invoice per cycle, listing each address. Each site keeps its own service day.
What happens if snow blocks the unit on service day?
A blocked unit cannot be pumped. Keep a 3-foot path clear and the truck lane plowed. If a storm blocks access, the driver comes back on the next route day.
Do construction units come with a urinal and sanitizer?
Each standard construction unit has a toilet seat, a urinal, a toilet paper holder, hand sanitizer and a vent. Toilet paper and sanitizer are restocked at every service.
